Adult Learning Assistance

You have probably heard much in the last few years about lifelong learning.  We are learning constantly, from the cradle to the grave.  Some of our learning is sought, formal, structured, and much of our learning comes just through navigating our way through life.

But we all learn best using different styles and methods.

Unfortunately, many learning environments to do not cater to a range of learning styles, but instead lean more towards majority-rules learning styles.

To make this worse, many adults do not understand how they learn best.  Are you expending more energy than necessary by trying to learn in a style that is not comfortable for you?  This is frustrating and can be unproductive!

There are many theories about learning styles, some very simple and some more complex.  It is simply a matter of finding one that is suitable for you, that you can relate to, and that will help you learn more effectively.

By identifying your best learning style(s), you will find learning easier and more enjoyable.  Don't necessarily think study time will be lessened, but it will be more enjoyable and much more productive!

Here are some of our favourite sites that assist with learning:

VARK Learning Styles Questionnaire
This is a great online questionnaire to help you identify your preferred learning style.  Neil Fleming uses 4 learning categories:  Visual, Aural, Read/Write, Kinaesthetic.  In addition to the questionnaire, you will find useful study tips for the various learning styles.

How To Learn
This is a fantastic learning site.  It also has an online learning styles questionnaire, which uses 3 learning style categories:  Visual, Aural, Kinaesthetic.  In addition, Pat Wyman (the author of the site) has many products that are available both online and via post (although watch the postage cost if you're not in the USA - the delivery charges can be very high), and she has lots of extremely valuable information to maximise learning.

Gardiner's Multiple Intelligences
You may have heard of Howard Gardiner's multiple intelligences.  This theory is much broader than traditional learning style theories, and encompasses a wide range of categories.

Q-link
Q-link is a remarkable technology that enhances learning by giving you holistic wellness and improved concentration.  Backed up by credible academic research, we use this technology personally and recommend it highly.

Integrity Life Management has no formal relationship with any of these providers, and we are not responsible for any service or product you accept from these vendors.
